a little more love in Houston {destination engagement photographer}

Ok, I can’t help myself. These two are too cute not to share a few more. Plus, I never had an engagement shoot, and you know how I love to live vicariously through my clients. 🙂galveston wedding photographer engagement sessiongalveston wedding photographer engagement session2galveston wedding photographer engagement session3galveston wedding photographer engagement session4galveston wedding photographer engagement session5galveston wedding photographer engagement session6galveston wedding photographer engagement session7galveston wedding photographer engagement session8galveston wedding photographer engagement session9galveston wedding photographer engagement session10galveston wedding photographer engagement session11galveston wedding photographer engagement session12

in love at the Houston Arboretum {destination engagement photographer}

You’ll see these two lovebirds again when I shoot their wedding in Galveston in a few months. For their engagement shoot, this lovely bride-to-be really wanted a fall feel. Good thing for us, you can get fall-ish colors in Houston in the middle of January. We spent a gorgeous Sunday afternoon together in the woods at the Houston Arboretum, and they were sneaking kisses between the families walking by. houston arboretum engagement session destination weddingsSometimes I give little assignments to the couples on what to talk about, because if you ask a couple to just stand and look longingly into each others’ eyes, it usually starts to get stiff and look uncomfortable, plus there’s usually lots of awkward laughing. The trick is to have people do what you want to capture. A pose usually always looks posed. So here, I had them take turns whispering to each other and try to make the other one giggle. Sometimes I wish I could know what they are saying, but I’ve been married for 16+ years. I think I have a pretty good idea. houston engagement shoot andrea bacle photographyThis was the first shot of the session. These two are a little more on the conservative side, so before I told them to say anything too saucy to each other and really get them laughing, I think I was super hungry, so I told them to talk about what they were going to have for dinner after that. It helps to start with something mundane, because really, it must be very strange to have an old lady you’ve only met once before ask you to say dirty things to each other. Ok, maybe more creepy than strange, but it’s all for love–and great pictures, right??houston engagement shoot andrea bacle photography2This beautiful ring is just too pretty not to photograph. Sweet couple, I hope I gave you some good material for lots of laughs on the ride home. I’m sorry if I embarrassed you. Eh, not really.  🙂

Good luck with the rest of the planning, and I’m so very excited to shoot your beautiful wedding in Galveston soon.

Love, Andrea

love in Galveston {Texas destination wedding photographer}

So, this first picture is sort of the perfect analogy of my life right now. (You like how I start off their love story with an anecdote about myself? In real life, I’d like to believe I’m not so narcissistic.)

No, I don’t mean that it’s the same because I have a crazy person running around me with things lit on fire (well, I do have two small, somewhat crazy-making children, so that might be the perfect description, actually). I mean that because my oh-so-dear clients decided to go and have all of their babies and all of their weddings and all of their milestones in the same month, while I’m trying to improve my work/life balance and our quality family time and have the best summer ever with my kids, my mind is a little mushy and full and frenetic from lack of sleep. (You see how long that sentence was? That’s sleep deprivation talking along with trying to be slightly funny, but really, how funny can I get on a blog post? Clearly, I need a cucumber martini and room for gesticulation to make my humor work.)

What I do mean is that amidst all the crazy but really beautiful things going on with life, at the heart of it all is lots and lots and lots of love. I am insanely in love with my family and my life and what I do for my clients. If you’ve ever read a blog post from me, I’m sure I’ve mentioned a time or two about how sappy I am when it comes to love. So, when I have the oh-so-great honor of shooting a wedding, I fall in love with all of it all over again.

engagement on The Waterway {The Woodlands, TX, engagement photographer}

Hey, hey! Are you shocked? I’m posting on my weddings page! My poor middle child blog often gets forgotten. I seriously started writing this post on my family photography blog before I remembered I should post it over here. Whoops.

So, these two young and adorable cuties are recently engaged and getting married next summer in their home state of New York. But, they live down deep in the heart of Texas right now, so they needed some Texas pics for their “Save the Date” cards. We thought The Waterway at sunset would be perfect. It’s the perfect Woodlands location to me! Have I mentioned before how much I love living here?! I think I might have.

Brace yourselves, they are young and sweet and way too adorable and might make you feel like a boring, old married lady. Oh, wait. Is that just me? the woodlands waterway engagement photographer They have their first “fur baby,” so we had to make sure to include her in some of the pictures. Here’s what I want to know: Is she going to be at the wedding? Will she have a flower collar and carry the rings on a pillow? I am definitely going to need to see those pictures!the woodlands waterway engagement photographer Come on. These two are just so stinkin’ adorable together. the woodlands waterway engagement photographerThanks so much for a beautiful evening on The Waterway with me. We got so lucky with the weather, the puppy, and the lighting. I can’t wait to show you the rest!

Love, Andrea

PS, I’m shooting my next wedding in Galveston in about two weeks. Can’t wait! I know my poor weddings blog doesn’t get much love and attention, so please check out my other blogs for more info about me and my work: http://andreabaclephotography.com or http://thebacles.blogspot.com. trash the dress fun in the sun {Galveston, TX, beach wedding photographer}

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll recognize this beautiful smile. Recognize the “I” in my weddings logo? I’m slowly trying to show my poor weddings blog some love (I promise I blog consistently on my portrait photography blog and my family blog, but this one is my third child, and, well, it sometimes gets accidentally left at the playground–you see why I could never have a real third child?! I would be the worst.) So, these pics are a little old, but I made sure to pick some that I’ve never shown before. And, this is my one and only “trash the dress” session I’ve ever done, so it’s my favorite! 🙂 And, I’ll let you in on a little secret. This lovely bride really wanted a “trash the dress” session, so she bought this gently used copy for our fun in the sand and saved her real dress for the wedding. Isn’t that the best idea?! galveston beach wedding photographer galveston beach wedding photographer galveston beach wedding photographer galveston beach wedding photographer galveston beach wedding photographer galveston beach wedding photographerSo gorgeous! romantic picnic in Burroughs Park {The Woodlands, TX, anniversary photographer}

Surely you must remember the wedding of these two love birds? The Mrs. gave me a call to remind me it’s their one-year anniversary and to tell me they needed new pictures to celebrate. She wanted a sweet picnic with all of their favorite wedding tchotchkes at sunset. Um, sign me up! We went to Burroughs Park in Tomball…along with every other person in Texas, in turns out. We were able to get a little pocket of privacy with some sun-drenched goodness for these oh-so-adorable pics. (For you photographers reading this, Burroughs Park in Tomball is one of my all-time favorite spots to shoot around Houston. However, please be mindful of the plethora of picnic tables and trash cans. You’ll be Photoshop cloning all night, if you’re not careful.) the woodlands texas wedding engagement photographer This might be my favorite one of the whole set. So sweet!the woodlands texas wedding engagement photographer These two are so fun together–always laughing. the woodlands texas wedding engagement photographerThis one’s my second favorite. I love the colors, the sun, the setup, and–of course–the love. 🙂 one year anniversary Ok, sweet couple, thanks for such a lovely afternoon. Dear Hubby, sorry we ran a little long, but when the sun is that good and your wife is that lovely, you just have to keep snapping away! At least you got to enjoy a little cake with your photos, right?! Again, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, and here’s to so many more. Love, Andrea P.S., For those of you newly-engaged, considering-getting-engaged, or thinking, “What is this dude waiting for? Pop the question already!” ladies, give me a call for some engagement pics as soon as he puts that ring on your finger. Or, if it’s been a year since the wedding, and you need your own little picnic in the park, give me a shout. Although, I might have to call the Mrs. above to be the stylist for the shoot. andrea.bacle@gmail.com or 508.768.5808

my beach wedding picture…15 years late {The Woodlands, TX, beach wedding photographer}

Hello, friends! Are you ready for a back story? My super-duper-amazing-high-school-sweetheart husband and I got married 15+ years ago in his darling hometown Louisiana church where he grew up and his parents and many of our friends still attend. It was lovely, and I have some very sweet pictures from it. Here it comes…, BUT I really would have loved a beach wedding. We were practically babies still, and it wasn’t really feasible for us at the time, but I sure would have loved some honeymoon sunset beach pictures, at least. Fast forward to adulthood and many more photography options and many anniversaries later and you’re getting this post. For our 5-year anniversary, we were separated by war. For our 10-year anniversary, we had our first baby and renewed our vows in a beautiful ceremony of just the three of us. For 15 years, I told David all I wanted were some wedding-ish pictures on the beach from my favorite photographer. It fell through with her and after trying to contact/work with three other photographers (so I’m a little picky when it comes to my 15-year long dream), I finally gave up and decided to do it myself 6 months late. Here’s the end result of a family vacation to Pensacola Beach, a DVD on in the car for the two whiny-pants kids, a sunset, a tripod, and timer. the woodlands tx beach wedding photographerIf you’d like your own beach wedding (or honeymoon or, heck, 15-year anniversary) pics, give me a holler. It’s my goal to be on the beach–any beach–as often as I can all summer long. andrea.bacle@gmail.com or 508.768.5808

Love, still-wanting-to-be-a-bride, Andrea

P.S. I promise to post some non-Andrea posts soon. I am so darn picky about the weddings I choose to shoot that I usually only do one or two a year. It’s like children for me…if I had any more, I’d feel guilty about neglecting the first ones. 🙂

P.P.S. Have you heard of I Heart Faces? It’s a super cute photography site that has great photo challenges. I thought this would be a great one for this month’s pastel theme. Wish me luck! 🙂
